Join us along with our friend Peter Wilke of wineCRAFT for a special private wine dinner featuring 5 wines from the Catalan region of Spain. Priorat winers have risen from being almost unheard-of on the international wine market to being one of the world's most popular today.
It’s no surprise that, Priorat, holds the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) appellation, the highest classification in Spain shared only with Rioja!
You can’t talk about the Priorat DOCa without talking about Christopher Cannan’s Clos Figueras. Christopher, with his export orientated wine shipping company, Europvin, based in Bordeaux, had already discovered the potential of the Priorat back in 1983 when he was given a bottle of the 1974 vintage Priorat from the Scala Dei winery by a small retailer in San Fransisco.
Charlotte and Christopher Cannan purchased Clos Figueras in 1997. Located in Gratallops, Clos Figueras owns an original estate of old Garnacha and Cariñena vineyards. In addition, other varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet and Viognier have been planted.
